Questions
- JustScribe records but no text appears. What is wrong?
- JustScribe inserts text through the Accessibility permission. Open System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility and make sure JustScribe is switched on. If it is on and still nothing appears, remove JustScribe from the list, add it again, and restart the app. This is usually needed once after moving from the Mac App Store version, because the app is signed differently. If one particular app ignores the paste, switch Insert Text By to Type as you speak in Settings, Behavior.
- Nothing happens when I hold the shortcut.
- Check that a transcription model is downloaded and selected in Settings, and that Microphone permission is granted in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone. If another app uses the same shortcut, choose a different one in Settings.
- How do I update JustScribe?
- It updates itself: new versions download in the background and install when the app quits. To check now, choose Check for Updates from the menu bar icon or in Settings, Updates.
- I had the Mac App Store version. How do I switch?
- Download JustScribe from this site and drag it into Applications, replacing the old copy. Your models and settings are kept. Grant Accessibility permission again when macOS asks.
- Where are the models stored, and how do I remove them?
- Models are stored in the app's own container on your Mac. You can delete a downloaded model from the model list in Settings.
- Does JustScribe work on Intel Macs?
- No. It needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or newer) with macOS 26.2 or later.
